Scheduled Release: Smarter Payments for Luxury Supply Chains

In global e-commerce, speed is key. Customers want their luxury items fast. Brands and logistics teams want quick payments to keep operations moving. But there's a challenge: paying everything upfront is risky for buyers, while waiting until delivery can hurt your cash flow.

Scheduled Release offers a smarter, safer way to move money—based on the real status of each shipment.

What Is Scheduled Release?

Scheduled Release is a new way to handle payments during shipping. Instead of holding or releasing all the money at once, funds are unlocked step-by-step, depending on what happens during delivery—like when the item is picked, scanned by the carrier, delivered, or past the return window.

This payment flow is built on Provenance Tags and Concordium’s blockchain, which confirm each step with verified data—no guesswork, no delays.

How It Works – Step by Step

  1. Checkout & Initial Payment

    • The customer pays in a fiat-pegged digital currency.

    • 10% of the total is released right away to cover packing and dispatch costs.

  2. Shipping & Tracking

    • Every time a carrier handles the item, they scan a tamper-proof Provenance Tag.

    • Each scan updates the blockchain. When confirmed, more funds are released to the seller.

  3. Secure Delivery

    • Upon arrival, the buyer scans the tag.

    • Concordium confirms the buyer’s identity (without revealing personal info).

    • A major portion of the funds is then released.

  4. Returns & Disputes

    • A timer starts (e.g. 14 days) after delivery.

    • If there’s no issue, the final 10% is released to the seller.

    • If there’s a return or problem, the system follows a predefined process—automatically handling refunds or replacements.

Why It’s a Game-Changer for Luxury Operations

  • Faster Cash Flow

    • Brands receive partial payments as soon as items ship—not weeks later.

  • Lower Risk

    • Buyers keep control: funds are only fully released once they have the item and are satisfied.

  • Fewer Refund Hassles

    • If an item is returned, unreleased money automatically goes back to the buyer. No need for manual refunds or card processor delays.

  • More Value from Locked Funds

    • Money waiting for future release can even generate yield (interest), shared between parties.

Behind the Scenes – How It’s Built

  • Fully Integrated with Concordium Blockchain

    • All payment steps are tracked and verified automatically—no manual contracts or third-party apps.

  • Auditable & Tamper-Proof

    • Every payment is recorded with a timestamp and digital signature—easy to verify, secure by design.

  • Flexible for Real-World Logistics

    • You can link payments to delivery scans, customs clearances, or even temperature sensors for sensitive goods.

  • Low-Cost, High-Security

    • Thanks to Concordium’s identity and security layers, this works at scale—without high fees.

When to Use Scheduled Release

  • High-Value Items

    • Luxury fashion, watches, art—products where trust is key and delivery milestones matter.

  • Cross-Border Shipping

    • When multiple carriers or customs steps are involved, Scheduled Release helps track progress and release payments smoothly.

  • Rentals & Subscriptions

    • Great for try-before-you-buy models or leasing—payments release over time.

  • Warranty & After-Sales Service

    • Keep a small part of the payment locked to cover future service calls—automatically released after a job is done.

The Future of E-Commerce Payments

With Scheduled Release, payments are no longer “all or nothing.” Instead, money flows gradually—just like your products do—based on confirmed milestones. It’s faster, safer, and smarter.

For supply chain teams, it means better control, fewer disputes, and stronger alignment between logistics and finance. For luxury brands, it supports trust, speed, and service excellence at every step.
