FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS CONNECTEDFUTURE Smart tagginG?
CONNECTEDFUTURE Smart tagging is an advanced technology designed to guarantee the authenticity and traceability of physical items via a digital format.
Embedded in products, these tags are frequently incorporated as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), establishing a digital identity for each item. The tagging process starts right from the moment product components depart the factory, ensuring traceability, resistance to tampering, sustainability, and recyclability.
NFC Tags are exceptionally advantageous in industries such as fashion, luxury goods, high-value collectibles, beauty and retail, foods offering a dependable way to verify the origins and histories of products.
WHAT PROBLEMS DO WE SOLVE?
COUNTERFEITING
The modern market is flooded with counterfeits, making it difficult for brands to protect their authenticity and for consumers to trust what they’re buying. Our NFC technology, secured on the blockchain, provides a foolproof way to verify product legitimacy instantly.
TRACEABILITY, SUSTAINABILITY, RESALE
Beyond authentication, traceability is a growing concern. Businesses and consumers alike demand transparency—whether it’s tracking a product’s journey for sustainability purposes or ensuring a secure and verifiable resale market. Our technology bridges this gap, creating a seamless, tamper-proof digital identity for every item.
CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT, LOYALTY
In an oversaturated market, standing out is key. Our smart tags not only protect and authenticate but also enhance customer engagement, building long-term loyalty. By integrating NFC technology, brands can offer personalised experiences, unlock exclusive content, and create direct connections with their audience—driving ROI at every touchpoint.
WHY IS THIS TECHNOLOGY UNIQUE?
TRANSFORM PHYSICAL PRODUCTS IN DIGITAL ASSETS
Our technology transforms physical products into digital assets, unlocking a new dimension of value and interaction. With a simple tap, any item gains a secure, verifiable identity on the blockchain, bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
This innovation goes beyond authentication—it enables brands to create interactive experiences, track product lifecycles, and tap into new business models like resale and loyalty programs. By turning products into smart, connected assets, we future-proof brands and empower consumers with trust, transparency, and engagement.
HOW DOES BLOCKCHAIN WORK?
We use a unique blockchain that integrates user identification at the protocol level, ensuring privacy yet maintaining transparency for regulatory compliance. It utilises a two-layer consensus protocol for fast transaction finality and high throughput.
In the context of our Smart Tags, our blockchain serves as a secure and decentralised platform, enabling the validation and authentication of tags and maintaining product integrity and traceability.
HOW CAN I USE YOUR TECHNOLOGY?
CONNECTEDFUTURE Smart tagging can be utilised in various industries for authenticating products, ensuring traceability, and enhancing customer engagement.
Businesses can embed these tags in their products, and customers can use a smartphone app to scan and access detailed information about the product, such as its origin, journey, and verification of authenticity.
These tags also facilitate the creation of user-managed reward systems and link real-world items with their digital NFT counterparts for an enriched customer experience.
HOW IS YOUR TECHNOLOGY SECURE?
CONNECTEDFUTURE Smart tagging are highly secure, featuring individual encryption for each tag. This encryption is maintained end-to-end, from the tag to its digital record on the blockchain.
Such security measures ensure that all data is protected against unauthorised access and tampering. Leveraging blockchain technology's security features like immutability and decentralisation, our NFC Tags offer a secure method for product authentication and history tracking.
Do the microchip and the QR code have the same functionalities?
QR codes and tags can both serve as identifiers within the system, offering similar core functionality. However, tags provide additional benefits: they have built-in mechanisms to prevent duplication due to their tamper-proof features. Upon scanning, tags can immediately indicate whether they have been damaged, tampered with, or relocated, providing clear evidence of authenticity and integrity. QR codes, on the other hand, cannot detect such physical alterations—they merely serve as static identifiers.
How do you track the product if it is not being scanned by a phone?
We use tracking devices equipped with sensors (e.g., temperature) that automatically send data to our backend whenever changes occur in their location or environmental conditions. Each tracking device can be linked to multiple tags within our graph structure. When the device transmits updated data, our backend system immediately updates all associated tags in the graph accordingly.
Does it have a battery, and how long does it last?
Tags are typically passive and don't contain a battery. Instead, they receive energy from the scanning device (such as a smartphone) to power their communication with the reader.
How does it work without Wi-Fi?
The reader device (such as a smartphone) handles communication and requires a data connection to transmit information to the backend. Smartphones typically have connectivity to facilitate this, either through cellular data or Wi-Fi.
If there's no available connection, the app could potentially hold data locally, though we currently support only scenarios where a data connection is present.
WHAT IS RFID?
RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification. It is a technology that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects.
These tags contain electronically stored information and can be read from a distance, eliminating the need for direct line-of-sight scanning. RFID is widely used in various industries for inventory management, asset tracking, and contactless payment systems, due to its efficient tracking capabilities.
WHAT IS BLE?
Bluetooth Low Energy, often referred to as BLE or Bluetooth Smart, is a wireless communication technology designed for low-power, short-range data transmission between devices.
It's commonly used for connecting various IoT (Internet of Things) devices, wearables, and accessories to smartphones and other devices.
